The Real Behind The Excuse

As a Christian, God has given us the power to believe in ourselves, and trust in Him. He gives us the power in knowing that we can do all things, because it is He who gives us strength in our weakness.

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 NIV

It is a known fact that most successful people not only eliminate excuses, but they make it their business to be subconscious of them. The more you are aware of the excuses the more you can avoid them. When you find yourself coming up with excuses take a moment and think of some people who started out with no money like Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs and Tyler Perry, just to name a few. They did not know that what they were doing would bring about the success and wealth that they have today. But the one thing that they all had in common was a never give up mindset. I am not saying that they never felt like giving up, but they believed in their visions and had confidence in knowing that God was going to help them reach their destiny.

Oftentimes when we find ourselves coming up with excuses, we realize that it is just fear of the unknown. When we fear the unknown, we begin to doubt ourselves, am I good enough, what will people think, or what if I fail. “But God has not given us a spirit of fear. No, He has given us a spirit of power, and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim 1:7 NKJV)

When God called Moses to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt, he gave God excuses. The first excuse he gave God was, “Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?” (Ex 3:11 KJV) But God said, “Certainly I will be with thee.” When God sends us on an assignment, He never let us go without His power to complete the journey. We cannot succeed on our own strength or by our own power. But it is by the power of the Holy Spirit that allows us to succeed.

The second excuse he gave was, “Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, the God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, what is his name? what shall I say unto them?” God said, “tell them “I AM WHO I AM.”  “I AM, sent me to you.”  When we need anything, God is the one that we can depend on being our “I AM.” God says, I AM your friend when your friends leave you. I AM your mother when your mother is no longer with you. I am “a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path” to help guide you when you have lost your way. (Ps 119:105 NKJV)

Every time Moses made an excuse, God offered His promises and provisions. When God gives us a task to do, we must not be like Moses who gave God excuse after excuse, but we must have faith, trust, and obey Him in all things. When we trust Him in all things, we find it easier to submit to His will and know the purpose that He has for our life. For only He knows the plans that He has for us. .

As a Christian, God has given us the power to believe in ourselves, and trust in Him. He gives us the power in knowing that we can do all things, because it is He who gives us strength in our weakness. We cannot be like the rest of the world, having no hope. We have an advantage, we have the Creator of all things on our side, and He has all power to catch us whenever we fall. It is through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that we can find hope. He told us that he will never leave you nor forsake you. In the mist of your doubts and concerns of what can and cannot be done, He is there. We can take all of our cares and place them unto Him, because He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ever ask or imagine. For He is, “THE GREAT I AM.”

My prayer for you today is that no matter what it may look like, never give up, because you can persevere. For God is a very present help and in Him there is no failure.
